ICT in
my future live
This is where ICT can play an important role. By mining
the vast amount of data produced by an array of connected things within any
city. ICT can contribute to efficient day-to-day city management and help
leaders and citizens alike negotiate the challenges of the continuing
development.
There are several ways to come to grips with or at least
ease, the problems outlined in our reports. We have learned from our research
for example, that one of the most important things needed to make people feel
better about their commute is to instill in them a sense of control by
providing them with adequate and timely information.
Already today, there are innovative commuting apps that
leverage connectivity and mobile networking. In an effort to better understand
how real-time, social networking among commuters can enhance the overall
commuting experience and improve traffic management.
The information is beneficial from both a transportation
management perspective, but also from an individual computer perspective. Computers
are able to download a mobile app that tells them in advance how crowded the
trains will be so that they can choose one with vacant seats.
These cases exemplify how connectivity is a driving force for technological change and for how ICT can mitigate city issues and improve quality of life in urban areas.

And yes, if you
ever get the chance, they are really, really tasty.
